Hi friends, hope we’re all keeping well.
For the past 3 months, I’ve actually been tutoring a 1st year student in maths, and I kind of want to talk about it in this post.
To sum it all up: it’s a pleasure.
I’ve found that teaching new concepts and skills to someone younger than me is honestly so fulfilling, and has given me a greater appreciation for actual teachers and educators.
Helping people succeed with their studies and education was one of the main reasons why I started this blog, so I’m also really glad I’ve found another outlet to do so. It’s great to interact with a student and watching their mind grow!
Other than the altruistic reason, I must say tutoring has also, quite frankly ,helped me in other aspects too. For one, I’m practising my expression and explanation skills, which I’ve discovered have been abhorrently awful. It’s all well and good if you know what a concept is and how you use it, but it’s a completely different story when trying to transfer that knowledge to someone else.
If more jobs/opportunities arise, I definitely want to try tutor in other subjects as well, and to more students too. It’s a pretty cool experience, being on the teaching end for once in my life, and I don’t mind doing it more often.
Highly recommend other students to try also😃
there’s no better way to learn something than to teach it to someone else; I wish you continued enjoyment with your tutoring…
