Have I had a Boring Life so far?

Hi friends, hope we’re all keeping well.

This will be a really quick, random wildcard post I’m writing today, since I think it’s funny enough to at least talk about.

But basically, I discovered an internship opportunity from a course friend of mine called Patch. It’s a 6-week long ‘idea accelerator’ course for young people interested in working on some business idea/project for their summer break.

And since I’m looking to gather new experiences, network with like-minded people, and try work on something meaningful in the summer, I decided to send in an application.

I did not realise at the time, however, how much this application would truly make me ponder my life up to this point in time.

Many of the questions seemed to be typical, principle job interview questions, none of which I actually had to think about and answer before.

“Tell us about 3 things you’re most proud of”

“Tell us about something quirky or uniquely creative you had created before? Did you break any rules in doing so?”

“What is the one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far? Walk us through how you faced the challenge and came up with a solution.”

Etc…

Is it a bit embarrassing to admit I really had to think about my answers for a while? For example, the question asking about my creativity had me stumped for an absurd amount of time.

Up to this point, I genuinely believed I had been pretty unconventional, or even a tiny bit quirky. But after facing these questions, I truly am reconsidering just how little hardships I’ve really been facing compared to others.

There have been no grand challenges in my life so far other than academics, and that’s…kind of a boring life.

Maybe I can try change that with college? I mean, no one likes a story where everything works out for the main character, right? We need to see them go through hardships, go through challenges, and have them come out a better, improved, and more developed.

That’s what I want to do with my college experience. And to give credit where credit is due, filling out this internship application has definitely helped me reaffirm this goal❤️‍🔥
